Tips for Curling Straight Hair

Tips for Curling Straight HairGirls with really straight hair often desire the cute curly hair look. If you really didn’t know what you were doing, curling out straight hair is pretty difficult.

Even if you manage to curl your straight hair, you will probably still have a challenge on your hands when it comes to keeping curly hair curly and from straightening out again.

Hopefully, with the tips and product recommendations below, you will be able to both figure out how to curl your hair and also keep it that way.

Prepping your hair

Wash your hair as usual. The only thing you want to do differently is to use just half the amount of conditioner that you would normally use. Skip the blow dryer and use a towel to gently dry your hair, before applying a luxurious quantity of mousse.

Make sure that you work the mousse all the way into your roots. After this, you will have to use a towel again, to sort of scrunch up the hair to dry out the excess mousse. Don’t rub the towel into your roots this time.

Thickening your hair

While the hair is still a bit damp, use a high quality hair thickening spray. An excellent product that we would highly recommend is the Got 2B Fat-Tastic Thickening Hairspray that has a high level of polymers that will both thicken and also nourish your hair at the same time. Make sure that you spray your roots as well.

Blow dry

Use a blow dryer on a mild setting and blow dry your hair without using a comb. Gently use your fingers to let the air pass through all your hair.

Using a curling iron

Now comes the critical curling routine. You will need a high quality curling iron for this. We would highly recommend the Remington C195AC/2 Tstudio Pearl Digital Ceramic Curling Wand that retails for a stunning low price of just $25. It is one of the most popular curling irons in the market today.

To use the curling iron, work on little sections of your hair, starting from the bottom. As you finish with each section, use a pin to keep the curl in place and then work your way upwards, to curl your entire head of hair. You can also use the spray to prep little sections of your hair again, before using the curling iron.

Blow dry again

Once your curling pins are set in place, you will want to use a good blow dryer once again. If you don’t own a good blow dryer, we would highly recommend the super powerful BayBliss Pro BAB2000 Ceramix Xtreme Dryer that uses 2,000 watt power.

The heat is not too hot and it will make your styling work a real breeze as it gets the job done so quickly. Use this blow dryer or one that you might already have to dry your hair, taking about one minute for your entire head.

Cool and remove the curling pins

Now, you just have to wait until the heat from the blow dryer fades away. Give it about 5 minutes just to be safe. After you remove your curling pins, use the sides of your palm to gently tousle your curls. Don’t ever use a brush. Enjoy the curls that should last for a very long time if you followed the above mentioned steps.
